Basic but comforting war romance

This was a pleasant, perfectly adequate read. War novels are a crowded genre, and while this one doesn’t introduce anything especially new or distinctive, nothing stood out as frustrating or poorly executed. The story leans heavily on well-worn character tropes and familiar historical context, which made for a lazy yet comforting read.
The fully epistolary format made it difficult to form a deep emotional connection with the characters, though it did lend the story a certain quaint, nostalgic charm. The ending was quick and cute, with everything wrapped up neatly. Overall, it was fine. Enjoyable in the moment, if not particularly memorable.
