No subtlety, pretty damn fun

I realize I’m about forty years late to the Carl Hiaasen party, because this is the first of his books I’d heard of, but evidently he’s had this schtick going since the 80s.
If you’re looking for subtlety and realism, it will not be found here. But I thought this book was pretty damn fun. Eccentric characters, preposterous scenarios, sharp dialogue, and an amusing plot line. It’s got a good amount of One Battle After Another vibes, but with more current pop culture/political references, more overt comedy, and a more lopsided perspective.
*If it’s not clear from the synopsis, you will not enjoy this book if you are sympathetic to far-right politics.
