This book reads like the fantasy diary of a 12-year-old girl with only a very vague understanding of the world. It’s Pretty Woman for those who find Pretty Woman to be too intellectual (I actually love Pretty Woman).
Am I too elitist for wanting some semblance of believability even in a fun romcom? Maybe. Idk. But you’re telling me that these folks were fake married for years without giving each other a second glance, and then all of the sudden their eyes open and they can’t stop humping? I wasn’t given any reason why they should be madly in love with each other outside of their smoking hot bodies (which I guess they forgot to notice during the entirety of the marriage), so all the sex felt particularly unsatisfying. The 25-year-old talks like she’s in middle school, and the supposedly gorgeous son of a billionaire talks like he’s never had a chance with a woman before. I got a hernia from cringing so hard at the dialogue.
And lastly, I just have to say: that’s not how trusts work. That’s not how public companies work. That’s not how any of this works. But anyway, other than that it was good.
